Making a mask layer on your tags

A friend of mine asked if I could teach her how to work with mask layers using a newer version of Paint Shop Pro, so I decided to write this tutorial in case there are others out there that would like to learn how to do it.
This short tutorial will teach you how to work with masks in Corel X3, but it should work in other versions aw well. It’s important that you have set up your Corel so that you can see the layers on the right side of your workspace. I always have Materials, History and Layers there. This can be changed in Palettes on top of your workspace.

We are going to use a flood filled layer here, but this can be done on paper layers, images or anything else really.

Here is a mask that I have made:

Just right click the image and save to your pc.
Please follow my TOU regarding my masks.
You can find all my other masks HERE.
Open up the mask you want to use in Corel.
Make a new canvas that is 500 x 500 pixels.
Flood fill with a colour or gradient of choice.
I used a rainbow gradient that came with my Corel program.

Go to Layer (on the top bar) and choose “New Mask Layer”
After that you click on “From Image”, like this:

Once you’ve done that, you click where it says “Image” under the Source Window and find the name of the mask you want to use, like this:

A good rule to follow is that it’s always the black are of the mask that will fade or disappear, so if the center of the mask image you want to use is black, you have to tick “Invert Mask Data” in the bottom left corner of the option above (look at the screenshot).

Anyway, back to the tutorial here. Click OK.
Now it should look like this:

And on your right side, the layers should look like this:

On your right side, under Layers, right click on the top layer that says “Group”, click Merge then Merge Group.
And there you go, you have a mask layer.

I have just shown you how I  do it. Other might do it a little bit differently.
I hope I made sense trying to explain this lol.
