This tutorial was written February 16, 2012. I used Corel X3, but it should work in other versions as well. The supplies you need: A tube of choice. I used an awesome, new release from René Kunert called Armee. She was selling at Rebel Dezings at the time this tutorial was written. Plugins: Andrew's Filter 20 - Revolver 33RPM Eye Candy 5 Impact - Perspective Shadow (Optional) Font of choice. I used "Send Flowers" and "Secret Code". Let's get started! Open a new image 600x250. Make a foreground/background gradient with 2 contrasting colours, with these settings: Floodfill the layer and duplicate it. Add Andrew's Filter 20 - Revolver 33RPM with default settings: Change the layer properties to Luminance (L) or another option.Which ever you fancy of think looks best. Hide the foreground colour and change your background colour to white. Choose your rectangle tool and draw a rectangle like this: Convert to raster, duplicate and flip. Merge both the stripes together. With your magic wand active, click on the area above the top stripe and below the lower stripe. Expand the selection by 2. Go to the Revolver layer and click delete. Do not deselect yet. Activate the bottom layer. Go to Adjust - Add/Remove Noise - Add noise with these settings (See my tag for reference): Deselect. Back on the stripe layers, Select All - Float - Defloat. Select Selection Border and add this setting: Add new layer and floodfill with your dark colour. Deselect. Add a drop shadow; 0,0,100,10 black.
Change the opacity of the white stripes to 60%. Back on the top layer, add your tube and add a drop shadow of choice. I used Eye Candy 5 - Perspective Shadow with the blurry preset. Crop your tag with Merge Opaque. Add a new raster on top. Floodfill with your dark color. Select all and contract the selection by 1.Floodfill with your lighter colour and contract by 2. Floodfill with your dark color again and contract by 1. Deselect. Add a drop shadow; 0,0,100,10 Add a wording of choice. I wrote "Shh, wanna know a secret?" I used a font called "Secret Code", white as the font colour and lowered the opacity to 60%. Add your name with a drop shadow of choice. Add copyright and save it as jpg. AVATAR: Move the white stripes to where you want them and Duplicate your tag and remove all the layers except the bottom 3 layers and crop your tag to 150x150 px. Use your magic wand above the stripe layer and do the same steps as you did with the tag, all the way to the frame around the white stripe. Add the same drop shadow as you did on the tag. See my avatar for result. Add a new layer and make the same dual coloured frame and drop shadow as you did on the tag. Add your initial or name with a drop shadow of choice and save as jpg.
